Overview Deirdre K. Luttrell, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Divison of Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. Dr. Luttrell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from Pomona College in 1979 and her AM in Zoology from Duke University in 1982. Her doctorate in Microbiology was awarded in 1989 for work done on the role of the c-src proto-oncogene in signal transduction in the laboratory of Dr. Sarah Parsons at the University of Virginia. She worked in drug discovery at GlaxoSmithKline from 1989-2004, where she served as project leader on the discovery of Votrient, A VEGFR2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Dr. Luttrell joined MUSC in 2004, where her research focuses on GPCR transactivation of receptor tyrosine kinases.
