    Dr. Gemmill studies cancer-linked chromosome aberrations and genetic alterations in both lung cancers and kidney cancers. Specifically he investigates the role of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in disease progression and drug resistance. His laboratory has studied multiple target genes, including SEMA3F, several EMT transcriptional repressors (ZEB1, ZEB2, SNAIL, SLUG) and is testing some as biomarkers using a novel Photonic Crystal detection platform.
